He has established working studios in northern California and southern France since becoming a professional artist in 1997. Born and raised in Vallejo, California, Vickers was a 1979 business graduate from Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles. His style of painting and sculpture is a fusion of figurative, abstract and realism elements stressing vibrant coloration. He has exhibited extensively at gallery venues throughout the United States and Europe. His work is an important addition to numerous private and public collections internationally. Among the artists influential in his artistic evolvement include Constantin Brancusi, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Arp, Henry Moore, George Segal, Nathan Oliveira, Concha Benedito, Robert Arneson, and Manuel Neri. An entrepreneur before becoming an artist, he has initiated and managed several business enterprises in the auction, travel, textile and mailing list industries. Vickers has been widely published on the evolutionary role the Internet is playing in empowering individual artists and restructuring the fine arts industry.
